![]() Well I was asked for a comparison to the Git2 Not having 4K is incredible for a new model video camera. Yes, you can have real 4K and 60 fps, so the not-4K on this late-to-the-party model is a big issue. Gitup G3 and GoPro Hero 5 and Hero 4 Black: Sony IMX117Ģ. However most people will want to use 60fps which means 1080 resolution so this not a big issue.ġ. Still only interpolated 4K, although you can use the gyro stabiliser and digital zoom in 2160 resolution unlike most 4K cameras. ![]() Most people are happy with it but it would be really nice to be able to turn it off completely and sharpen on the computer instead. Still uses that Novatek sharpening engine, which still produces much the same result as the Git2.The chipset may have a similar number to the Git2 chipset but it is a major upgrade with improvements everywhere. ![]() Battery life - it has a bigger battery, I've never emptied it in normal use!.JPEG photo quality - a huge improvement, they now look like they were compressed at super high quality instead of of normal quality.so has 14% more detail giving considerably more room for editing before noise and colour banding becomes visible. Full range video - It uses the full 8 bit range instead of the restricted range used by action cameras from GoPro, Yi etc (Amberella chipset).(The 0906 with its starlight sensor wins at night, but on a sunny day the G3 with it's high resolution sensor and zoom ability makes a much nicer holiday video.) Eg: I can mount the G3 on the car windscreen, unplug the rear view slave camera from my mini 0906 dashcam and plug it into the G3 for a higher quality recording. I quite like the Git2 menu, but having the touchscreen makes some things so much easier, for example the exposure lock in photo mode wasn't on the Git2 because there where not enough buttons to be able to do it, so the touchscreen is not just a feature, it is actually useful. Exposure lock in photo mode, the Git2 only had exposure lock in video mode.(The first frame grab in the first post above was at x2 zoom.) Makes it more suitable for FPV use on a drone. Digital zoom (again) - zooming in effectively gives you both a wide angle and a narrow angle (eg: 90 degree) action camera at the touch of the touch screen, including removing the fisheye as would happen with a real 90 degree action camera and without loss of detail.Even better, the zoom works perfectly with the image stabilisation, something other action cameras seem incapable of! Digital zoom - unlike all the other action camera zooms I've used, this one zooms in on the raw sensor data, not the 1080 image - it works properly and if you are using 1080 resolution you can have 2x zoom with the image remaining perfectly sharp. No sign of lens distortions in the corners. The Git2 didn't stabilise the roll axis, the G3 does. Improved 5 axis image stabilisation, the best I've seen in any action camera. ![]()
